“Service Above Self”
This is the motto of Rotary International and its 33,000 clubs in over 200 countries. The main objectives of this worldwide organization are humanitarian service and the promotion of peace, goodwill, and understanding. With over one million members worldwide, Rotary works towards improving health, supporting education and alleviating poverty.
The Rotary Foundation’s oldest and best known program is the Ambassadorial Scholarship supported entirely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians. The scholarship, whose main purpose is to further international understanding and friendship among people of different countries, was founded in 1947 and has since supported the education and future of over 40,000 people.
